Riviera Gardens, Housing estate in Tsuen Wan, Hong Kong.
Riviera Gardens is a residential estate in Tsuen Wan with 19 high-rise towers and over 5,600 apartments, with some buildings reaching 40 stories. The complex includes a shopping arcade, clubhouse, swimming pool, and various sports facilities.
The estate developed from the transformation of a former Caltex oil depot, created by New World Development and Caltex Petroleum Corporation. Construction took place between 1988 and 1990.
Residents use the grounds daily for shopping and leisure, creating a vibrant community feel throughout the property. The modern facilities reflect how contemporary urban living blends work, shopping, and recreation in one location.
The estate connects easily to public transportation and offers convenient access to shopping and recreation on-site. Visitors can explore the different areas on foot as everything is centrally organized.
The site was built on the foundations of a former petroleum processing facility, creating an entirely new residential community on what was once industrial land. This transformation shows how Hong Kong has repurposed previously used industrial sites into modern housing.
