State Game Lands Number 285, Public hunting grounds in Beaver County, Pennsylvania, US

State Game Lands Number 285 spreads across three separate parcels in South Beaver and Darlington Townships with a mix of forest types and open areas supporting diverse wildlife. The terrain includes streams, meadows, and wooded hillsides where visitors can encounter deer, wild turkeys, and various bird species.

The Pennsylvania Game Commission acquired these lands in the early 1900s as part of a restoration program for depleted wildlife populations. Management focused on creating stable habitats for deer and wild birds through regulated practices.

These lands reflect Pennsylvania's dedication to maintaining public access for outdoor recreation while supporting wildlife conservation through regulated seasonal activities.

Visitors need appropriate Pennsylvania hunting licenses to use these lands and should consult maps from the Game Commission to find access routes and understand boundaries. The terrain is remote, so sturdy footwear and weather protection are essential.

North Fork Little Beaver Creek flows through the property as an approved trout stream with varying elevations throughout. This waterway supports a network of aquatic life and offers fishing opportunities within the game lands.
