Sheraton New York Times Square Hotel, hotel skyscraper in Times Square, Manhattan, US
The Sheraton New York Hotel and Towers is a white 51-story building located on Seventh Avenue between 52nd and 53rd Street. The structure features rectangular design and spacious public areas throughout its interior.
The building opened in 1962 as the Americana of New York and became part of the Sheraton Hotels chain in 1979. This transition reflected broader changes in the hotel industry and the property's shift toward larger corporate ownership.
John Lennon and Paul McCartney announced the creation of Apple Corps record label here in 1968 during a press conference. The location became a gathering place for musicians and celebrities passing through the city during that era.
Each room includes its own temperature control and refrigerator, offering convenience for different travel needs. The location provides direct access to Broadway theaters and shopping along Fifth Avenue.
The building held the record as the tallest hotel in the world for several years when measured by the number and height of its occupied floors. This distinction reflected cutting-edge construction technology of its time.
