Chestnut Run Farm, Fruit winery in Salem County, New Jersey, US
Chestnut Run Farm is a fruit winery in Salem County located on 22 acres at the headwaters of Chestnut Run. The operation produces wines from Asian pears, Fuji apples, and Japanese plums cultivated on the property.
The Clark family converted their wholesale produce operation into a winery in 2006 to adapt to shifting market conditions. This transition preserved their agricultural roots while allowing the business model to evolve.
The property shelters birds of prey and eagles among its orchards and pastures, serving as a refuge within the agricultural landscape.
Visitors can schedule wine tastings during special weekend events or by appointment throughout the year for retail purchases. The location is most accessible during organized tasting periods when programs are actively available.
The farm grows eight varieties of Asian pears, each fermented separately to create three distinct pear wine selections. This specialized cultivation allows visitors to taste and compare subtle differences between the pear wines.
