The Summit Bechtel Family National Scout Reserve, Protected area in Fayette County, West Virginia, United States

The Summit Bechtel is a large facility in the Appalachian Mountains that spans about 14,000 acres and houses several training centers and activity zones. The landscape combines hillsides, rivers, and forests where water sports, climbing, biking, and hiking take place.

The property opened in 2009 after an organization completed a multi-year search and selected a mountain location in West Virginia. This site replaced previous locations and became the new center for national gatherings and training programs.

The reserve brings together young people from across the country who gather to participate in outdoor activities and develop their skills in a shared natural setting. Visitors experience a culture focused on learning, teamwork, and outdoor adventure.

The site is accessible through several entrances and features multiple base camps and training centers at different points on the grounds. Visitors should prepare for uneven terrain, changing weather conditions, and the need for proper gear for various activities.

A particularly striking feature is a long pedestrian bridge that spans across the property and connects different areas together. This structure is often less well-known by visitors, yet serves as a practical link between various sections of the site.
