The Henrietta Barnett School, School in Hampstead Garden Suburb, London, United Kingdom
The Henrietta Barnett School is a girls' school in Hampstead Garden Suburb, housed in a building designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens. The main structure and several wings provide classrooms, specialist departments, and communal areas across an extensive campus.
Dame Henrietta Barnett founded the school in 1911 as part of her vision for Hampstead Garden Suburb. During the 1930s, the building expanded and shifted from a community centre into a full educational institution.
The school maintains specialized departments in music and English, offering students opportunities to develop their academic and artistic abilities through dedicated programs.
Access is restricted during school hours, as the building operates as an active educational institution. Visitors can view the exterior facade and surrounding grounds from the public footpath without entering the school site.
The main building holds Grade II* listed status and stands among the few surviving school structures by Lutyens. The architectural composition blends classical proportions with the functional demands of a modern learning environment.
