Yato City Piping Speed Rink, Ice rink in Hachinohe, Japan
Yato City Piping Speed Rink is a modern indoor skating facility in Hachinohe featuring a 400-meter double-track course for speed skating. The three-story building accommodates around 3,000 spectators for events and competitions.
An outdoor rink first opened here in 1969, serving the local skating community for decades. The current indoor facility was completed in 2019, becoming Japan's third international competition venue for speed skating.
The rink plays an important role in Japanese speed skating, hosting major national competitions throughout the year. Local athletes train here regularly, making it a center for the sport in this region.
The facility opens for public skating from July through March with rental equipment available. Different pricing applies depending on age group and visit type.
During summer months, the same building transforms into a swimming complex with a certified 50-meter competition pool. This dual-use design allows the facility to serve both winter and summer athletes in one location.
